Taking DN1000 caliber as an example, the weight of a butterfly valve is about 2 tons, while a gate valve of the same caliber weighs about 3.5 tons - butterfly valves are over 40% lighter than gate valves. This weight advantage is particularly significant in large-diameter pipelines, greatly reducing installation costs and support structure requirements. In addition, butterfly valves have a simple structure and few components, consisting only of a few parts. Butterfly valves can be divided into two categories based on their sealing form: soft sealed butterfly valves and hard sealed butterfly valves. The valve seat of the soft sealed butterfly valve is made of elastic materials such as rubber and polytetrafluoroethylene, which have good sealing performance and low leakage, but the operating temperature is limited by the sealing material (usually not exceeding 150 ℃). The valve seat and disc sealing surface of the hard sealed butterfly valve are both made of metal materials (usually welded with hard alloy), suitable for high temperatures (up to 425 ℃ or above) and corrosive media. According to the connection method, it can be divided into clamp butterfly valves (connected between two pipeline flanges with double headed bolts) and flange butterfly valves (connected to the pipeline flange with the valve's own flange). According to structural characteristics, it can also be divided into midline butterfly valves (valve stem axis coincides with the center line of the butterfly plate), eccentric butterfly valves (valve stem axis deviates from the center of the butterfly plate), etc. The three eccentric butterfly valve achieves excellent sealing performance and long service life through precise elastic sealing rings and multi-layer metal hard sealing structure.
